Prof. Vic Naiker

Vic is a Professor of Auditing and Director of the PhD Program in the Department of Accounting. Prior to joining the University of Melbourne in July 2017, Vic was a Professor and Coordinator of the Higher Degree Research and Honours programmes in Accounting at Monash University.

He also served as an associate Professor and Director of BComs(Hons), PGDipCom and MCom Programmes at The University of Auckland Business School and as an Assistant Professor at The University of Waterloo.

Vic is currently an Editor at Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. He also served as an Editor at The Accounting Review from 2020 through 2023 before which he was an Editor at Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory from 2013 until 2020. Vic is a recipient of awards from the American Accounting Association for his Editorial work and is on the editorial boards of other journals in Australia and internationally, including The Accounting Review .

Vic’s research interests include audit committees, corporate governance, auditor industry specialisation, auditor remuneration, and accounting information and capital markets. Vic has published research papers in the areas of auditing, financial accounting, finance, management accounting, management, and economics. His papers appear in leading international journals such as The Accounting Review, The Journal of Finance, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Management, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Journal of American Accounting Taxation, European Accounting Review, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Accounting Horizons, and Journal of Financial Research. His teaching interests are focused in auditing and financial accounting.
